King Air spins

· Misc, Travel

Some damn scary shit right there.

The jumpers blocked the airflow and shifted the gravity balance:

The stall and subsequent spin happened when we allowed too many jumpers on the outside step, causing an aft center of gravity and excessive blocking of the airflow to the left horizontal stabilizer. The nose then pitched up beyond the controllability of the elevator

Hong Kong housing

· Travel

Video from 2018. Since then, we've seen the riots (revolution?) in HKG. Suddenly, the HDBs in Singapore make a lot more sense, and we should credit the SG Housing Board for their solution (sure, HDBs are not perfect, but compared to those cages...).

Emirates. Finally. Been trying so long to fly with them. And in business class. :)

1x A380 and 3x B777.

I’ll be around for a few drinks in Belgium !

Singapore expat part 3: unified payment system across transport

· Misc, Travel

Just like Hong Kong (Octopus), Seoul (T-Money) and London (Oyster), Singapore has a public transport card (Ez-Link). Like HK and Seoul, you can use this card for small payments in 7/11 alike shops.

This payment card works on all transport modes. Bus. MRT (metro). No matter who operates it.

Sadly it doesn’t work on taxis though.

Nonetheless. With a bunch of different players (SMRT, SBS, any other? But the same is true for London – and they have more players on the market) they have one simple unified payment system (and prices are the same no matter who is operating).

EVA and WiFi

· Networking, Travel

So I am flying EVA from SIN - TPE - JFK and back. For the first time I also went to the dark side (16hrs was too long to be locked up with just my mind) and got onboard WiFi.

This seems to come with unlimited data for ~20USD for 24hrs. I manage to stream Google Music just fine.

I totally went Matrix mode during the flight. While the flight is half empty I am wondering if they think I am haxoring it now.
